Blendtec Vs Vitamix Blender Pricing & Review

Blendtec and Vitamix companies both develop high end blenders for the home and commercial juice shops. These are no generic, department store blenders, but powerful machines, which can significantly improve your health and lifestyle.

Frank Musa, The Daily Vitamin, Blend Off, Blendoff, Blend offs, blend offs,Hello, my name is Frank Musa, I produced the Blend Offs and wrote this review to help provide you more insight on why the Blendtec and Vitamix blenders are so beneficial to your health and lifestyle. Both Blendtec blenders and Vitamix blenders make exceptional home use blenders and commercial blenders for a juice shop.

We tested the Blendtec vs Vitamix blender models for Ice Cream, Juicing, Smoothies, Hot Soups, and Grinding Grains and compared their user controls. If you have questions on how we determined our explanations on the  Blendtec vs Vitamix blenders, or are having issues with your Blendtec or Vitamix blender model, please leave a comment at the bottom of the post and i will do my best to answer it.

This review covers everything, so try to read the whole thing.

So which blender should you go with? Vitamix or a Blendtec?

Unfortunately, the main disadvantage is that these advanced kitchen appliances come at a higher cost. And when you’re making as large a purchase such as a Blendtec or Vitamix blender, it’s important that you know the facts.

Blendtec vs Vitamix Blender Models Costs & Deals

The high cost between Blendtec vs Vitamix top blenders can deter most people from wanting to purchase one. Most Blendtec and Vitamix blender models cost from $400 to $700 when brand new. Thankfully, there are always ways to reduce the cost, such as purchasing a refurbished blenderBoth companies also offer long extended warranties to protect the purchase.

Brand new Blendtec blenders start at $399 for their cheapest Classic 575 model, but can cost up to $1100, as their Stealth commercial model does, which is designed for juice shops.

Blendtec refurbished blenders can be found as low as $279 such as the Blendtec Total Blender and slowly go up in price as you get newer refurbished models. The Blendtec 575 refurbished is $319, the Blendtec Designer 625 refurbished is $399, and the Blendtec Designer 725 refurbished is $539.

You can find an older Vitamix blender models refurbished as well. Search Amazon for the Best Vitamix Reconditioned Blender Deals. The Vitamix 5200 for $329 or a newer Vitamix 5300 for $359, both are two great refurbished deals.

Blendtec vs Vitamix Blender Models between $200 – $300

Blendtec vs Vitamix blender models available under $300 are either refurbished or reconditioned or a really old model, newer Blendtec vs Vitamix blender models cost between $400 and $700, but buying a refurbished or reconditioned Blendtec or Vitamix isn’t a bad way to go, you still get a warranty, the same payment plan, and the blender is able to make the same great blends and consistencies as the newer versions, depending on the blending jar or container you go with.

Although comparable, these two blenders are completely different. The Blendtec Total Blender is all digital push button controls where the Vitamix 5300 is only manual controls with no automatic features. The Blendtec Total Blender has 6 automatic push button features which are designed to make the blends all by themselves without any help, you can push the blender button and walk away, just like on the newer Blendtec models.

The Vitamix 5300 is an upgrade design of the old Vitamix 5200 blender, just with a quieter upgraded 2.2hp motor. The 5300 Vitamix speed dial offers 10 blending speeds and comes with a pulse switch capable of chopping and an on/off switch.

The Blendtec Total Blender offers more automatic features than some of the newer Blendtec Designer and Classic models giving you the same versatility and convenience. Six automatic settings for smoothies, whole juice, soups, Mixing, Ice Cream, and Ice Crushing makes blending easy because you can push a button a walk away. There is a pulse button on the right of the digital display for more control and chopping and is good for finishing off a blend. The manual speeds don’t give you as much control as the newer versions but they work great, you push the UP or DOWN button to go up 1 speed or down 1 speed, but you can’t jump speeds like on the newer models.

A Big feature we like about the Blendtec Total Blender vs the Vitamix 5300 blender is the digital timer that reads off the time left in the blend. When you push the button a timer pops up which reads off the setting you pushed and how much time the blender will run for, this is awesome and is a huge perk to the Blendtec Total Blender.

NOW aside from the controls and motor, the main thing that will determine the consistency of your blends are the blending jars and containers. There a few options each company offers which we would recommend over others. For one, the newer Vitamix Low Profile Container and Blendtec Wildside Jar are both very similar and will produce the same similar consistencies and textures for your blends. The jars are both short and have a wide base with a big 4 inch blade. Both jars work great for Hot Dry Wet and Cold blends and are the easiest to clean from the rest of the jars and container Blendtec and Vitamix offer.

The two other good ones to have are the Vitamix 640z tall container and the Blendtec 64oz Standard Jar. Both of these work great for ice creams and grind grains well and produce slightly less air bubbles for your smoothies and juices than the bigger jars and containers. Not a bad choice.

One thing about the Vitamix containers are they come with a blending tamper which allows you to push ingredients down into the blades as the blender is running where the Blendtec jars don’t have this option. What does this mean?  Well this means if something gets stuck in the Blendtec you need to stop the blender and shake the jar so the ingredients drop back down onto the blades where the Vitamix you can just let it run and push the ingredients down. Really not to big of a deal and the Blendtec usually works to get the ingredients without any help.

Blendtec vs Vitamix Blender Models between $300 – $400

Priced a little higher in the $300 to $400 range you get a few more options, though these are still not the newer elite models Blendtec and Vitamix offer and a couple of these are refurbished and reconditioned. A Big difference between a NEW Blender and a REFURBISHED blender is the warranty on a refurbished or reconditioned blenders is much less, usually around 3 to 5 years vs a 8 to 10 year warranty for a NEW blender.

Remember that you are able to purchase any Vitamix Container for any of these Vitamix models, so for example the Vitamix E310 comes standard with the 48 ounce container but you can upgrade your purchase and ask them for a Vitamix Standard Tall 64oz Container or the Vitamix Low Profile Container instead, or just buy it separate.

If you like automatic settings on your Vitamix then you can get them in this price range, the Vitamix Standard Series with programs has 3 automatic settings which include smoothies, soups, and ice creams, the main 3 basic features. Most older Vitamix blender models don’t come with automatic features and you’d have to jump up to the next price range to get them.

The Blendtec Classic 575 is usually over $400 but this one is refurbished so the price has been reduced. The 575 has some very nice features, it has 5 basic speeds with work great because you can jump back and forth from low to high quickly and the manual push button speeds are very responsive. The 575 Blendtec also comes with 4 automatic settings for cleaning and the basic smoothie, and also offers a 60 second and 90 second run time button for soups and pureeing.

The Vitamix E310 and Vitamix 7500 both have a similar design but motor is different, the E310 has the older and louder 2hp Vitamix motor where the Vitamix 7500 is considered the quietest Vitamix blender of all time with the newer upgraded 2.2hp motor. The display controls are the same featuring 10 controlled manual blending speeds with no automatic features on the speed dial.

Blendtec vs Vitamix blender models between $400 – $500

As we get into the higher priced Vitamix and Blendtec blender models you get some more options. The New Vitamix Ascent Blender line is astonishing and gave Vitamix an amazing sleek new look which looks great. Blendtec has a upscale designer series line which is just as amazing and looks great. Both the Ascent Vitamix blenders and the Blendtec designer blenders are equally great and provide digital innovation which makes blending fun.

The Ascent Vitamix blender line is the newest blender line that Vitamix has and it offers the quiet 2 hp motor just like on the Vitamix 7500, 750, and 780, but the more advanced digital display and speed dial is setting it apart from the rest of the Vitamix blenders. With the Vitamix ascent line you get the best of both worlds, you get the speed dial and a digital programmable timer which reads off the blend and gives you automatic blending options.

The Blendtec designer blenders get really advanced and the Blendtec 625 is there first and least expensive designer blender which you can find refurbished for $399. The newest Vitamix Ascent line gives an astonishing sleek look to any kitchen. It’s sophisticated advanced design comes with a 10 year warranty standard, which is a big upgrade from the Vitamix Legacy Series 7 year warranty and the Vitamix Personal blender 5 year warranty. You have a variety of color options to choose from and the price is comparable to the Vitamix brand and other Vitamix blender models. Great Deal!

Vitamix A2300 vs A2500

The ascent Vitamix A2300 and A2500 use the old style Vitamix speed dial control system with a pulse switch and on/off switch but the new digital timer reads off the time the blender is running, which is a new feature. The 2.2hp 12 amp motor is the same as the Legacy Series, and just like the legacy series, is powerful and very quiet.  The A2300 has 10 speeds on it’s speed dial where the A2500 has 10 speeds plus 3 automatic preset features you can choose from. Both the Vitamix 2300 and Vitamix 2500 are equal in every way besides the 3 automatic features. If you want your Vitamix blender to come with some automatic features than the A2500 might be a good choice.

Vitamix A3300 vs A3500

The A3300 and A3500 are focused on their digital features but still come with a speed dial which you can work to control your blends. The speed dial has 10 speeds and located to the left and right of the speed dial is the on/off switch and pulse switch which are replaced with digital push button technology instead of the switch. The Vita mix A3500 has 5 automatic presets above the speed dial which are in the form of digital buttons where the A3300 doesn’t have any automatic presets. Both blender models have a digital timer which reads off the time in the blend, and aside from the automatic features in the A3500, the A3500 also weighs 15 pounds compared to the A3300 which weight is 12 pounds.

Vitamix Ascent Costs and Deals – If you buy it NEW the Vitamix A2300 is $399 and the Vitamix 2500 is $449, but you can find them reconditioned and save some money. Reconditioned is as good as new and makes the cost more affordable. The Vitamix A3300 is also $449 and if you want the upgraded A3500 Vitamix it cost $549 brand new. Vitamix came out with a really nice payment plan which makes owning a Vitamix blender more affordable then ever. You can pay with a Credit Card and choose financing up to 24 months.

Blendtec Designer 625

The Blendtec Designer Series Blenders come with an 8 Year warranty NEW and a 3 year warranty refurbished and are the most advanced blenders that Blendtec has ever came out with. The Designer 625 is the most affordable of the Blendtec Designer blenders but still costs over $400 even as a refurbished blender. The sleek look and responsive slide touch digital controls are a big plus, and the 4 automatic features on the Designer 625 make blending recipes easy and quick, you can push a button and walk away from the machine. An elite choice for a high power blender.

Blendtec vs Vitamix blender models between $500 – $600

Once you jump over the $500 mark the blenders start to get really advance and offer more features. Both Blendtec and Vitamix blenders offer their top blenders at this price range featuring the Vitamix Ascent 3500, the Vitamix 750, and the Blendtec Designer blenders.

A good thing about both blender companies is that you can pay the blenders off over time with their payment plan options. Spending a large amount of money at once for a blender is hard to do and most of us don’t have that kind of cash, but the payment plans make it affordable for anyone to be able to get one of these amazing machines.

Both have the quiet 2.2hp motor, both have the speed dial which has 10 speeds, both have a pulse feature, both have automatic settings of which 4 are the same. The main difference between the Vitamix Ascent 3500 and the Vitamix Legacy G 750 is the new ascent series has a digital push button technology for it’s automatic settings featuring an automatic programmable timer where you can see the time remaining in the blend.

The Vitamix 750 still has the old style Vitamix look and feel where the main focus is the speed dial and all the automatic features focus around the speed dial where the 3500 Vitamix Ascent Series has automatic features that are separate from the speed dial and stand alone.

Blendtec Designer 675 vs Blendtec Designer 725

These blenders are similar in their design and features but when you look closely the Designer 725 is much more advanced. Both have a slide touch slider for manual control but the Blendtec Designer 725 has 100 speeds where the Designer 675 has 8 speeds. The Designer 725 manual control slider with 100 speeds is much more sensitive and responsive than the 675 designer.

Both offer similar automatic features which have the same blend durations but the Designer offers a Salsa feature and also has blend rewards which is a program associated with Blendtec which rewards you every time you reach a certain number of blends. It helps keeps you motivated.

The motor on the Blendtec Designer 725 is the most advanced motor Blendtec has to offer and at 3.8 hp and 15 amps you won’t have any troubles going through your fruits and vegetables. The 3.8hp motor on the Designer 725 is also a bit quieter than the 3hp motor on the Blendtec Designer 675 and Blendtec Designer 625.

Both the Vitamix 780 and Blendtec 725 are all digital and offer similar slide touch controls and push button automatic features. The Vitamix 780 is quieter but the Blendtec Designer 725 offers a more responsive control system with 100 speeds on their touch slider. Both cost almost the exact same price and and depending on the blending container and jar you blend with, will produce the same consistencies for your smoothies, ice creams, and juices.

Old features in a newer blender with a different look, the Blendtec professional 750 has the same control system as the Blendtec Total Blender offering 6 automatic push button features, 2 manual controls, and a pulse button. Blendtec vs Vitamix blender models between $700 and UP

These commercial blender models come at a much higher cost than home use blenders because they’re built to be used at restaurants, juice shops, and other commercial facilities where they will be used a lot more than a home blender. Both offer very advanced blender technology; the Blendtec 800 offers the Blend Wizard where you can choose from 42 different programs which are pre programmed for you, you can scroll to which ever setting you want for that button and set it. They’re 6 programmable buttons you can set. The Vitamix Quiet One also offers 34 settings you can choose from with 6 buttons you can set with your favorite programmable cycles.

The Vitamix Quiet One offers more low end speeds and high end speeds for you blends than the Blendtec Professional 800 and uses a push button control system where the Blendtec Professional uses a slide touch slider with 11 low to high speeds you can control by sliding your finger up and down the slider.

Blendtec vs Vitamix

Between the models I really liked the quiet 2.2hp motor on the Vitamix Legacy and Vitamix Ascent blenders, it’s definitely more quiet then the Blendtec blenders, but one thing I like about the Blendtec blenders is their automatic features are more responsive. It’s a hard decision between the two blender companies. They each are trying to out due each other from refurbished models to high end commercial models. They are perfectly matched from their containers and jars to their commercial blenders to their new sleek home blenders.

Any of these Blendtec or Vitamix blender models will get the job done for you, the bigger decision you’ll have to decide on is which features do you prefer? which jars and containers do you like blending with? Each company offers a Payment Plan option so you don’t have to bare the burden of paying it all at once. Now pick out which kid you want to be friends with and go play.

Blendtec vs Vitamix Overall Performance

Frank Musa, The Daily Vitamin, Blend Off, Blendoff, Blend offs, blend offs,We took the Vitamix 750 Legacy Blender, the Vitamix Standard Series 500 blender, and the Vitamix Personal Blender and compared them with the Blendtec Designer 725 blender and the Blendtec Classic 575 blender. We ran tests on each blender model for Ice Cream, Smoothie-making, juicing, hot soup, chopping, grinding, and cleaning and a few more. These are actual tests which you can watch live on our Youtube Channel and see for yourself. It was a difficult decision declaring a winner because both of these advanced blending machines are extremely efficient. These tests are useful information because you can also see how the blenders compare with each other, the main thing we found out from the tests are it’s not the base and controls of the blender that’s important, it’s the container or blending jar you use that really matters. Cheers, hope this helps!  If you have questions leave them at the bottom of the post.

Blendtec vs Vitamix Best Blender Ice Cream

Ice cream is a fantastic snack that Vitamix and Blendtec have no problem tackling. Blendtec blenders come with an Ice Cream button for easy production. Your mixture can be ready in just 45 seconds. Vitamix, on the other hand, takes a little longer to process, but creates just as healthy and fresh a dessert. The main differences are with the controls, you will have to decide on which features you like more.

Blendtec Ice Cream

Ice Cream at the push of a button, Blendtec is a great blender for blender ice cream. The automatic ice cream button does all the work for you, and most of the time it doesn’t need any help. Ice Cream is tough to make in most blenders but because of the Blendtec patented square jar and dull blades, the ingredients get pulled down into the blades and processed thoroughly. The ice, fruits, veggies, sweeteners, and milk all get blended together into an rich creamy ice cream.

We found that the Fourside Jar works a little better than the Blendtec Wildside Jar because of it’s narrower base, the ingredients get blended more thoroughly. Both Jars by Blendtech can do it but the Fourside jar is what I recommend for Ice Cream.

Most of the Blendtec blenders have an ice cream button on their digital display, super nice feature, it runs for 35 seconds, slows down, speeds up, and stops on it’s own. You can simply push the button and walk away and the Blendtec will make the ice cream for you.

Vitamix Ice Cream

The tamper is necessary when making ice cream in your Vitamix. The best Vitamix Container to tamper with is the Low Profile Container, it’s wide base allows you to more easily tamper down the ingredients and get everything around the sides of the container down. You can look at having the tamper as an advantage to owning a Vitamix because don’t have to worry about the order of how you add in your ingredients or your ingredients getting stuck. The tamper allows you to push everything into the blades as the blender is running, something that the Blendtec blenders don’t offer in their standard and wildside jar.

The tamper makes it easy to make ice cream but requires a little bit of effort on your part, but you can control how thoroughly blended you want the consistency.

Our favorite Vitamix blender container for ice cream is the Low Profile Container which comes standard on the Vitamix Legacy Series and Vitamix Ascent Series blender models. The Standard 64 oz container is harder to tamper with and the Vitamix Personal Blender Container is to small.

One downside to the Vitamix Automatic Ice Cream setting which sort of defeats the purpose of having it is that since you will have to use the tamper to make the ice cream the automatic feature seems to be just for looks.

Blendtec vs Vitamix Best Blender for Juicing

Juicing is a less traditional use for Blendtec vs Vitamix top blenders, but Blendtec and Vitamix make a fair substitute for a juice extractor, plus you keep the fiber. Both make wholefood juice, mixing together fiber, pulp, seeds, and all. To make the same amount of juice as a juice extractor, these blenders require far less fruit and vegetable mass, and have all the nutrients of the foods as well! If you want a more true “juice,” you can strain the product to remove all the chunks. The high speed blending power that both blendtec and vitamix blenders have is able to liquefy the fruits and vegetables much more than a regular blender. You can get a similar consistency from a Blendtec or Vitamix blender as if you bought a juice from the store.

Vitamix Juicing

Though Blendtec and Vitamix blenders could never replace an actual juicer, the juice you will get will be easily drinkable with much more fiber and nutrients which provides more health benefits than a juice from a juice extractor. After testing the Vitamix blenders we realized that it’s not the blender that matters, it’s the Vitamix Container you use that matters more.

The Vitamix Low Profile Container with it’s wider base and bigger 4 inch blade can liquefy whole foods quicker and easier than the standard Vitamix containers. You can fit a Low Profile Vitamix Container on any of the Vitamix blender models. You can buy an older Vitamix blender for $300 and buy the Vitamix Low Profile Container and you will get the same results.

The same Blendtec Designer that costs $600 will produce the same juice as a Blendtec that costs $300 if you use Blendtech Wildside Jar. The Blendtec classic uses the standard 64 oz jar but you can upgrade to the Wildside Jar when you purchase any of the Blendtech blender models. The Blendtec Wildside Jar has a bigger 4 inch blade with a wider base which is better for juicing and is also easier to clean.

Blendtec vs Vitamix Best Blender for Smoothies

Smoothies are the first use most people think about when purchasing a blender. So which blender makes the best smoothies? The truth is, both Blendtec and Vitamix make a great smoothie blender. The main difference is Blendtec typically takes longer to process a smoothie, due to its preset blending cycle. Vitamix can also take on more fruit or veggie material thanks to its secure gripper lid. Both Blendtec and Vitamix companies offer a variety of jars and containers for the best smoothie.  In all honesty, however, it would be hard to tell the difference between a Blendtec and Vitamix smoothie. Both are tough machines and ready to take on your smoothie challenges.

Vitamix Smoothies

For Smoothies we notice that each of the blending containers are more important than the actual blender. The bigger Low Profile Vitamix Container was able to blend the ingredients easier and quicker than the other Vitamix Containers and required no help from the tamper. The other containers we’re more difficult to blend the smoothie and required more effort and use of the tamper.

The Texture and taste from the Vitamix Standard blender container and the Vitamix G Legacy blender container we’re very similar with a slight advantage in taste going the the standard container, but the Vitamix Personal blender with the 40oz container had a completely different texture and taste that wasn’t as good, furthermore, it was more difficult to get the ingredients to get into the blades on the Vitamix Personal S blender because of it’s small 40 oz container. You will have to chop the ingredients into smaller pieces if you buy the Vitamix S Series Personal blenders.

The Automatic smoothie button is nice if you are using the bigger Low Profile Vitamix Container because it doesn’t require the use of the tamper and is able to blend large loads of whole foods without any help, so you can push the button and walk away, but, if you are using the standard 64 oz Vitamix Container or any other of the Vitamix containers you will most likely need to use the tamper to get the ingredients into the blades which totally defeats the purpose of having an automatic smoothie button, so it’s not to have the automatic features on the Vitamix blender models but only if you are using the bigger Low Profile Container.

Blendtec Smoothies

The Blendtec Jars seem to both work great for smoothies, both blender jars by Blendtec are able to process large ingredients without any help. The bigger Wildside jar is able to process the ingredients more quickly but the Blendtec Standard Jar also is designed to pull down and process the ingredients. The only downside to the Blendtec Standard jar is that it’s a little narrower so sometimes the ingredients get stuck on the sides of the jar in which case you’d have to stop the blender and shake the jar and then restart the blender, which really isn’t a big deal. The blender works fine and unless you overload the jar, you’ll be fine.

The Smoothie Button on the Blendtec blender runs for 40 seconds and changes speeds on it’s own, you can push the button and walk away, come back and your smoothie is done, just like the smoothie shops. Very Nice feature on the Blendtec blenders.

Blendtec vs Vitamix Best Blender for Soup Recipes

Soup is an easy task for both Blendtec and Vitamix blenders. A great features of these appliances is that their motors are powerful enough to heat soup, thanks to the friction of the blades. Within a few minutes, the blenders can have your raw ingredients blended smoothly and heated to a steaming temperature. Or, in under a minute, you can have a raw, cool soup. Blendtec is slightly faster, taking only 4.5 minutes to heat soup compared to the Vitamix’s 6 minutes. These homemade soups are much healthier than canned options. There are more nutrients, and less salt! Whether you pick Blendtec or Vitamix, both are a big step to improving your health!

Blendtec Soup

We found that the Blendtec blenders can heat up soup a little bit faster than the Vitamix blenders, we think this is due to their 1560 watt, 3 hp motor and bigger thicker dull blades. The soup in the Blendtec blenders are quickly liquefied and heated, usually in 3 minutes. The Blendtec blenders come with a Soup Button which is automatic, very nice feature. The Blendtec Jars are made from Polycarobnate BPA Free Material so they are not plastic, making it safe to heat and cook recipes inside the jar. Blendtec also has a pulse button which you can use to chop ingredients into your soup after it’s liquefied, such as corn, beans, chips, and meats.

Vitamix Soup

The Vitamix Legacy G Series was able to heat and cook the soup a little quicker we think because it has a more powerful 2.2hp motor, than the older style Vitamix models. The older Vitamix style was almost equal in heating but the Vitamix Personal Blender wasn’t able to heat the soup recipe to a hot temperature. Cooking soups in your Vitamix is made easier on their newer blender models with the automatic soup setting which stops on it’s own. The Vitamix Soup Feature runs for 5:30 minutes and allows you to walk away without having to worry about the blender over-running. Average run time for soups in a Vitamix blender is around 5 minutes. Vitamix blenders also come with a pulse feature which allow you to chop ingredients into your soups once liquefied. The Vitamix containers are made from the same BPA FREE Poly carbonate material which makes it safe for heating and cooking soups.

Blendtec vs Vitamix Best Blender for Grinding Grains

Next, both blender lines are able to grind grains like a grain mill and make flour! Blendtec has a slight advantage, as both its Fourside and Wildside jars are able to grind dry goods, so there is no need to buy additional jars. The Vitamix, however, requires a specify dry-goods jar to make a decent ground product. While wet jars can do a decent job, the Vitamix Dry Container is specifically designed with a different shaped blade that circulates dry goods differently. With a dry jar, you get a finer, better mixture.

Blendtec Grain Mill

With the same jar and blade you make your smoothies, juices, and ice creams you can also make fresh flours. Blendtec advertises that you can use the same jar for everything. One Jar for HOT DRY WET AND COLD Blending, and they are absolutely right. Blendtec’s light weight 1.5 pound jar is convienent, easy to use, and is able to make fresh flour in less than a minute. You can grind any types of seeds and grains in your Blendtec Blender quickly and effectively, the consistency you get is fantastic and you can use the fresh flours for baking and cooking.

Grind on a slow speed for thicker consistencies and a high speed for more finer consistencies. Make sure the Jar is completely DRY before adding your ingredients. Use the manual speeds on the digital display to control your consistency.

Our favorite Blendtec Jar for grinding grains is the standard 64oz four side jar, the narrower base is great for dry goods. It’s also nice to have an extra jar for grinding grains because grains will scratch the jar and the jar will get cloudy. If you’re gonna get an extra jar, get the FOUR-Side Blendtec Jar for your Dry Goods.

Vitamix Grain Mill

Vitamix blenders have proved themselves to be effective and able to grind grains with the same blade and jar that they make smoothies, juices, and ice creams with, but Vitamix recommends getting their Special Dry Goods Jar for grains because the sharp blades on the Vitamix Containers will become dull if you keep using them to grind.

We noticed that the newer Vitamix Low Profile Container did the best and had the fluffiest and finest texture from all the other Blendtec and Vitamix Jars and Containers. The Blade on the Vitamix Low Pro Container is slightly thicker and seems more durable, and the container, as you can see in the video, was able to go through the ingredients quickly and very effectively, more so than all the other Vitamix Containers. The other containers we’re in fact much more difficult to grind grains with, we needed to use the tamper quiet and bit with the Vitamix Personal S Blender and even with the Vita mix Standard 64oz Container. We we’re still able to get a flour from the other containers but the Low Pro Container was by far superior.

Blendtec vs Vitamix Best Food Processor and Chopper

Blendtec and Vitamix both claim to be food processors, though neither is designed to be quite as good as a true processor. Both can chop small quantities fairly well. Blendtec’s Pulse button and dull blade does the job, though maybe not in the most aesthetically pleasing manner. Vitamix’s low speed is precise at chopping, far better than the Pulse blade, and is the victor in this challenge.

Blendtec Food Processor

The two blade design on the Blendtec blenders allows you to scrap out the ingredients much easier than most other blender models. The pulse feature is more responsive on the Designer blenders because you can pulse at any speed, low or high. The Classic Blendtec blenders have a set speed for pulsing and you want to be careful not to over pulse.

The pieces come out a little larger than the Vitamix blenders due to a bigger blade design. The Fourside jar might be better for chopping because the blade is just a little bit smaller.

Vitamix uses a four blade design which makes it a little harder to scrap out all the ingredients from the bottom of the container, but it does chop the ingredients a little finer. The best Vitamix Container for Food Processing is the Low Profile Container, it is great for chopping and it’s wider base allows for you to scrap out the ingredients much easier.

Blendtec vs Vitamix Best Blender for Mixing

These blenders really can do everything; Blendtec vs Vitamix blender models can also be used as a mixer.

  • This means you can create batters and breads quickly.
  • Blendtec even has a specific button for the process.
  • The Vitamix’s recipes, on the other hand, usually require you to blend the wet ingredients ahead of time.

Blendtec vs Vitamix Best Blender for Cleaning

Oh, cleaning. Probably the most dreaded part of using a blender is taking apart the machine piece by piece and cleaning gasket, blade, jar, and lid. But thankfully, Vitamix and Blendtec make it amazingly easy to clean!

  1. Both lines are self-cleaning blenders.
  2. All you have to do is add hot water and a little bit of dish soap, and blend!
  3. Stickier jobs may require a little additional scrubbing, which makes the Blendtec the easier-to-clean blender.
  4. There’s no risk of cutting yourself scrubbing its dull blades!
  5. Regardless, it is vital to clean as soon after use as possible.

Different Blender Models come with different blade designs which results in easier cleaning. Both Blendtec blenders and Vitamix Blenders offer a larger jar which has a bigger capacity and bigger blade. The Blendtec Jar is the Wildside Jar and the Vitamix Container is the Low Profile Container.  Regardless of the blender model you choose between Blendtec vs Vitamix machines, you will be able to get the upgrade. When ordering your blender, make sure to get the bigger jar.

Blendtec vs Vitamix Best Features and Controls

Vitamix and Blendtec blenders are powerful devices, but thankfully Vitamix’s standard home models draw less power. They operate at 11.5 amps/1380 watts and 2-peak horsepower motor.

Next generation models come at an advanced 2.2-peak horsepower. Blendtec’s rank is only slightly less impressive, coming at 13 amps/1560 watts with a 3-peak horsepower motor.

Blendtec blenders come with 10 different speeds, with a minimum of 4,080 RPM and maximum of 28,000 RPM. This translates to a blade that can spin up to 310 miles per hour. Vitamix, too, has 10 different speeds, but comes with a greater range.

The lowest speed is 500 RPM, and the highest is 37,000 RPM. Vitamix, therefore, allows a great variety in textures for your output.

Each blender is 15 inches tall.

  • To compete with this, Vitamix has been working on producing shorter jars, which are 17 inches tall instead.
  • Vitamix, on the other hand, makes blenders than weigh about 13 pounds, each a minimum of 21 inches tall.

Blendtec’s compact design saves you valuable countertop space, and fits easily under most kitchen cabinets, where as Vitamix’s heavy design will be likely to never leave your counter top. The lightweight allows for easier transport as well.

  • Another important part of the blender’s design is the level of noise it makes. Both Blendtec and Vitamix pack a more powerful motor than your average blender, and make, therefore, more noise.
  • Blendtec’s highest speed is a little noisier than Vitamix’s, but both are otherwise equally loud.
  • Each blending cycles last typically from 1 to 2 minutes, so at the very least, the din does not last long.
  • Blendtec, too, offers the quietest model of either line– the Stealth. If you really need a quiet machine, the Blendtec Stealth is your blender.

  • The blenders come with a cool auto-shutoff feature, which prevents the motor from burning out by working too hard.

  • Blendtec’s built-in computer can also detect overheating, overloading, and jamming in the blade.

Blendtec and Vitamix both sell light and durable containers made of co polyester, BPA-free material. They typically do not absorb odors, but immediate clean-up is important to prevent this.

Frank Musa After selling blenders at Costco Road Shows for a couple years I realized the power and potential of high power blending. I got a lot of questions at the Costco Road Shows about how the different blenders compare with one another and which blender is the best blender for smoothies and juicing, which blender is best for grinding grains and soup recipes. It's tough deciding on an big purchase such as a high power blender so I created the Blend Offs to inform and show you, the consumer, exactly what these blenders do and how they compare.

  1. Hello and thanks for all this valuable information! I have a Vitamix (about 16 years). I make a lot of nut cheeses and hate cleaning the blades. It sounds like the Vitamix might be a bit better for smoother, less grainy nut blends but I’m wondering how much a difference there is (I really like the simpler, more open design of the blendtec). Would love to know your thoughts. Thanks, Lauren

    1. You know, it really is a hard decision between the two. The Blendtec does have a big advantage with the simplified two blade design, which makes for easier cleaning and also makes it easy to get thicker blends out from the bottom of the jar, like Nut Butter, which is much tougher to do with the Vitamix because the blades get in your way. The newer Vitamix containers are much better for cleaning and leave you more room at the bottom to reach in and around, but yeah, the Blendtec blade design is awesome. The Blendtec Twister Jar is the best for Nut Butters, the twister jar can make Nut Butter creamier and smoother and faster than all the other Vitamix Containers and Blendtec Jars available. Hope that helps.
