Best Smoothie Blender
Smoothie Blender Benefits
Benefits of Smoothies
Smoothies allow your body to get a large heaping dose of fiber and nutrition quickly, quicker then eating raw vegetables. Unlike Juicing in a Juice Extractor, smoothies allow you you to mix in nuts, seeds, and large green vegetables into the blend; furthermore, you don’t waste pulp and you gain more fiber with smoothies, about 70% more fiber than a juice out of a juice extractor. Not saying smoothies are better but the fact is you get more nutrients and waste less of the ingredients.
Juicers squeeze out the juice and extract your pulp and you lose (throw away) about 70% of the Fiber and Nutrients, where as in a blender you keep 100% of all the fiber and you can easily add in extras, such as Seeds, Nuts, and Superfood powders, for that extra kick or boost.
Also, smoothie blenders are easier to clean and easier to use then a Juicer.
In addition to getting more fiber, when you liquefy your ingredients your body is able to absorb more if the nutrition rather than eating it raw which takes longer for your body to digest.
Benefits of a Good Smoothie Blender
A good smoothie blender can break down the ingredients to a more liquefied consistency which allows your body to more easily absorb the nutrients. A regular blender tends to just spin the ingredients around the jar leaving chunks and pulp in the smoothie; where a good smoothie blender will leave no chunks or seeds in the blend. You get a very liquefied smoothie every time in a good high power blender.
- Blendtec recipes, Vitamix recipes, nutribullet recipes, and ninja blender recipes will be better blended because of the design of the blades and powerful motors behind the blades.
Perfect Green Smoothie Recipes
- A Perfect Green Smoothie consists of 60% Fruits and 40% Vegetables, and around 2 to 3 cups of hard ice. To make your – smoothie recipe – be more nutrient packed you can add super food powders, nuts, proteins, seeds, healthy sweeteners, and extras. Blend until smooth.

Smoothie Blender Winner
We added the same rich high fiber smoothie recipe into each blender and tested the smoothie for best consistency and best taste and easiest to use controls.
The Winner, in our blend off test between these 4 blender models, for the Best Blender for Smoothie Recipes is the NutriBullet Rx 1700 Watt Blender.
We came to our decision by blending and tasting the smoothie.
The Nutribullet high power Rx blender is twice as powerful as the smaller Nutribullet 600 watt & 900 watt bullet blenders.
The 2 peak hp power 1700 watt motor in the NutriBullet Rx quickly blended down and liquified the nuts, seeds, tough vegetables and fruits into a smoothie.
The Nutribullet Rx smoothie blender design is very easy to use, it runs on an automatic cycle, you simply add your ingredients into the blender pitcher and place it on the Nutribullet base, it runs and stops on it’s own so you can walk away from the machine.
The smoothie blender texture and smoothie blender taste is comparable to the Blendtec and Vitamix blender models, and in this case we though the NutriBullet Rx tasted better. It was very well blended.
Best Smoothie Blender Controls
The controls are all somewhat straight forward for making smoothies, the companies made it easy for us by giving us automatic buttons.
Blendtec has a smoothie button which makes the smoothie for you; there is no guess work at all with the Blendtec, just push the smoothie button, it just changes speeds very nicely and runs for 40 seconds and stops. Very easy.
Vitamix has a smoothie preset which you can turn the dial too and then flip it on. Unlike using the manual speeds, the presets on the dial are automatic and change speeds by them self and stop after a certain amount of time. Having an automatic setting for smoothies is a very nice feature on the Vitamix blender.
Nutribullet might be the easiest one of all because there are no options, the Nutribullet Rx blender is set to run the same cycle for all it’s blends. Once the Nutribullet pitcher is filled with ingredients just place it on it’s blender base and it starts automatically. It runs for 62 seconds and stops on it’s own.
Ninja Blender is the only high power blender without an option for smoothies, we used their blend and crush speeds to blend the smoothie recipe.
Best Smoothie Blender Containers
The Blendtec and Vitamix jars and containers are able to hold more ingredients and make larger amounts at once. Vitamix and Blendtec offer a variety of containers and jars for smoothie recipes; Blendtec has a their biggest jar being the 90oz wildside jar as an option with a bigger 4 inch blade and wide base and Vitamix has a similar container called the Low Profile Container which also has a bigger 4 inch blade and a wide base. Both jars from Vitamix and Blendtec are very similar, and both companies are very well matched against each other.
The Nutribullet Pitcher is more for a single serving, it’s smaller in size but works very well. Nutribullet blenders come with a variety of pitchers and cups for smoothies and soups and there biggest container can do 3 servings at once.
The Ninja Blender Container is plenty big but the blades get in the way when you’re adding in the ingredients. Sometimes larger fruits and vegetables have trouble getting down to the bottom of the container because the sharp blades going up and down the container are directly in the middle of the container.
Best Smoothie Blender
NutriBullet Rx had an outstanding taste and texture that we thought beat the Vitamix and Blendtec Blender Models in our Best Smoothie Blender Blend Off which you can watch above. NutriBullet has a design that pushes it’s ingredients into the sides of the Container where they are forced to fall back down onto the blades, so the consistency you get is very consistent every time.
The Nutribullet Rx has 1700 Watts and is much more powerful and produces better blends then the Nutribullet 600 watt and Nutribullet 900 Watt blender models.
If you are looking into getting a Nutribullet get the Rx version, you’ll be happy you spent the extra $50. It’s an outstanding smoothie blender and is able to do a lot more than just make smoothie recipes.
Blendtec offers the smoothie button on most of their blender models and the design of the Blendtec pulls all the ingredients in the jar into it’s blades, liquefying everything in the jar very thoroughly every time. This design by Blentec proves to work for more than just smoothie recipes, you can mix batters and bread dough, heat up soup, make ice cream, and many more amazing recipes.
Blendtec blenders offer the most automatic features from any other blender company that I’ve seen, and their blenders change speeds very precisely and quickly compared to other blenders.
The Smoothie Blend cycle starts slow, then speeds up on it’s own, and stops by itself after 40 seconds, and by the time the 40 seconds are up, you got a delicious smoothie.
The Blendtec gave us an amazing smoothie in our smoothie blender blend off which you can see in the video above, and both Vitamix and Nutribullet along with Blendtec all make a great smoothie blender.
You can easily liquefy the most toughest ingredients into a delicious smoothie with the Blendtec blenders.
Vitamix offers blender models with a speed dial and the newer Vitamix blenders are now all digital just like the Blendtec. With a speed dial you have more control because the speed dial is very reactive to the touch, you can go variable speeds slow to fast and back, which works great.
Newer Vitamix blender models have now installed automatic buttons and settings which work great and are able to change speeds for you and stop when the blend is finished. The Smoothie button or smoothie setting is one of the features on the newer Vitamix blender models.
The Automatic settings sit to the left of the speed dial and are offered as digital buttons on the new Vitamix Ascent series.
The Vitamix Smoothie Cycle runs and stops on it’s own, so you don’t have to worry about the blender stopping and the consistency that you get from a Vitamix machine is the same as the juice shops and smoothie shops.
The powerful motor and blade design force ingredients to be pushed up the sides of the Vitamix Container where they naturally fall back down onto the blades, this works very well for all types of blends including soup, ice cream, nut butter, batters and dough, and many others.
Vitamix offers 2 main containers the Vitamix Standard 64oz container and the Vitamix Low Profile Container.
Ninja Blender Smoothies
Again, the Ninja blender produced a completely different consistency, texture, and taste, then the Vitamix blender, Blendtec blender, and Nutribullet blender. The texture was pulpy and harder to drink.
You can see the video above that the Ninja blender texture is much more grainy and pulpy, not everything was liquefied into the smoothie, there we’re small chunks of fruits and vegetables left behind, it was more like you have to chew your smoothie rather than drink it.
The blade design on the Ninja Mega Blender Model spins the ingredients in the Ninja Blender Container but doesn’t seem to do a great job of liquefying all the ingredients in the jar, it gets most of them but just spins everything around.
There are no automatic buttons which stop on their own on the Ninja Mega Blender but the newer Nutri Ninja Auto IQ blender does have automatic buttons you can push and also they have a option for a different blade design which is more compatible and similar to a Nutribullet.
For the Best Smoothie Blender you can choose from any Vitamix or Blendtec model and you will get amazing results every time. If you are on a budget and want to get a great smoothie blender go with a Nutribullet Rx blender, it costs half as much as a Vitamix or Blendtec and gives you the same results for smoothies.
